Love Ottawa!

Yesterday Jubilee Church had another Love Ottawa! initiative. A dozen of us went downtown with soup and socks donated by the congregation. We went to the Byward Market, where many homeless people live. There we handed out 75 bowls of hot soup and several dozens of warm socks to the needy. We also gave out about 10 Bibles. We had marked two texts with a high-lighter:

(Isa 55:6) Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

and

(John 3:16) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

We had opportunity to speak with some people about the Lord and the message of these verses. We bookmarked the pages with post-it stickies and encouraged the people to whom we gave the Bibles to return to those texts.

This will be our last soup evening. Now that the weather is turning warmer (though it is snowing as I write this!) we'll be switching to bottled water and granola bars.

If you have any surplus English Bibles for us to give to the hungry, please mail them to me at:
