I finished a very interesting book yesterday, God's Secretaries: The Making of the King James Bible, by Adam Nicolson. Reading it made me grow in appreciation for the KJV, but dislike most of the people involved in its creation. I cannot judge how accurate Nicolson is, but he seems to have done the requisite research. The author masterfully describes the cultural and political milieu in which the KJV was born. It is very interesting that this Anglican Bible was (is?) "the Bible" in the USA--a country largely conceived in the bosom of Anglican persecution of Puritans.
