Yesterday my daughter Anne-Marie received a certificate at an awards ceremony declaring her enrollment on the Dean's Honour Roll at McMaster University (yes, my heart is swelling with pride). But that's not why I'm writing this. We found it very interesting that 75% of the 300 students on the Honour Roll were female. The possible reasons are: 1. 75% of the students at McMaster are female which would make the ratio appropriate; 2. women are smarter than men; 3. women are more diligent students than men; 4. women take easier courses than men and so attain a higher GPA.
